TODAY’S OLD TESTAMENT CODE
19. TODAY’S OLD TESTAMENT CODE July 23rd, 2008It is not only the Christians who look for the prophecies concerning present day and future over the Holy Books, the Jews and Muslims also prepared several studies on this issue using various methods. These efforts are not worth attention since they are not trying to give rise to a world war at whatever cost like Evangelicals. There are two books written on Torah (Old Test.) and translated into our One of them is Bible Code , by Michael Drosnin, a well-known journalist of USA, published in 1994. This book became a best-seller in the USA and Europe and gave rise to a huge interest in its year of publication. This book does not directly deal with prophecies in Torah. Author tries to create meaningful words by selecting letters from the pages of Torah according to a method he came up with. There are several findings about events of past in the book. Of course, what matters for us is the prophecies pertaining to the time after publication of the book. Because the ones related to past always seem to be correct based on some pre-assumptions. On pages 75-81 of the book, the date for end of Daniel’s days, that is the world war, was predicted as 1995-1996. On pages 107-121, the beginning date of Armageddon is predicted somewhere between 2000 and 2006. On page 137, book talks about a comet that will hit the earth.50 Following this book, Michael Drosnin, right after attacks of September 11th, 2001, wrote the book entitled “Bible Code, Countdown” that was also translated into Turkish. Since it was in the past, for the September 11 attacks, he even wrote the names of terrorists who attacked the towers as specified in Torah.51 He wrote that in 2006, the 3rd world war, the Armageddon, was going to break out.52 On page 105, he wrote Arafat was going to be killed in 2006 by an Arab terrorist with an assassination. The third book containing similar issues is the book by Joseph Noah entitled “Future Prospects of World According to Bible Code” published in our country in 2003. This book is similar to the foregoing books and its year of publication in USA was 1997. It contains more details and prophecies compared to the first book. This book says Jesus Christ will come back in 2010 on page 134 and the Judgement Day will be somewhere between 2005 and 2012, as written on page 145. On page 147, the book predicts that in 2005, Arab-Israel peace treaty will be signed, while on page 148, the book says Solomon’s Temple will be re-built in Jerusalem. On page 156, predictions say that an asteroid will hit the earth in 2010, on page 163, in 2005, white-black war will break out in the USA.53 None of the predictions contained in the book did not come true until 2007 . It holds the truth for the prophecies derived from Koran by the Muslim writers using similar methods.
